Xeomin is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A, the same class of medicine as Botox, and it relaxes the same muscles that drive frown lines, forehead creases, and crow's feet. What sets it apart is the formula: Xeomin is purified to remove the accessory proteins that surround the active toxin in other products, which is why it is often called the "naked" or "clean" tox. The mechanism, in plain terms
Xeomin is incobotulinumtoxinA. Injected into a target muscle, it blocks the signal that tells that muscle to contract, so the muscle relaxes and the skin above it stops folding into a line each time you make an expression.
The difference is in the manufacturing: Xeomin is processed to strip away the accessory complexing proteins that surround the active toxin in other neurotoxins, leaving only the active molecule. Because fewer inactive proteins are introduced, some clinicians consider it a thoughtful option for patients concerned about building resistance over years of treatment. Like all neurotoxins, the effect is temporary and fades over about 3 to 4 months as the muscle regains movement.
